Alyssa

Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Alyssa earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida. Her educational journey has been shaped by her desire to understand others and help them navigate life’s challenges, and it has given her the knowledge and skills to do just that.

With a diverse background in community agencies and non-profits, Alyssa has had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients. She’s especially passionate about working with children, using child-centered play therapy to help kiddos express themselves and navigate ‘big feelings’. She has worked with children facing challenges such as anxiety, grief, behavioral issues, trauma, ADHD, and Autism, providing a safe and nurturing space for them to grow. With adult clients, she is skilled at helping individuals work through grief, life transitions,and self-esteem issues. She uses a person-centered approach while drawing from narrative therapy and CBT, creating a supportive environment where clients can feel heard, challenge negative thought patterns, and be empowered to rewrite their own stories.

Outside of work, Alyssa loves spending time with friends, reading, and staying active in the gym and outdoors.
