Amanda
Mental Health Graduate Intern
Amanda is a graduate student at the University of the Cumberlands, pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her expected graduation date is August 2025. Amanda also received her bachelors of science in Biology from the University of Central Florida.
Amanda is interested in working with a variety of individuals, especially adolescent populations, and believes all persons deserve a safe space to connect with themselves, heal, and grow. Since 2017, she has worked as a middle and high school science teacher and loves working with the teen population. Adolescence can be a very tumultuous experience for many teens, and many teens are not yet equipped with the proper coping skills. She intends to create a comfortable space for them to learn to express themselves and cope with the stresses of adolescence in a healthy way. In addition to her interest in working with teens, she also has an interest in working with grief, trauma, and addiction.
Amanda believes all people should be treated with unconditional positive regard and should be free of judgement. She believes in meeting individuals where they are and using the techniques and theories that best fit their needs. Amanda also sees a lot of value in incorporating music and nature into her therapeutic practice.
With a love for adventure, you can often find her traveling to new places. Her favorite recent travels have taken her to Scotland and California, next on the list is Iceland. She is also an avid reader and enjoys fantasy books. When time permits, she plays violin in a community orchestra and spends time in nature.
