JW
Mental Health Graduate Intern
JW was homeschooled in Central Florida, where he developed a strong sense of curiosity and a passion for learning. This foundation led him to pursue higher education at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Ministry with a minor in Psychology. Graduating in the spring of 2020, JW gained valuable insight into the intersection of faith, human behavior, and the potential for personal transformation.
Currently, JW is a graduate student at the University of the Cumberlands, working toward a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2025. His passion for mental health stems from personal experiences and witnessing the profound impact healing can have on individuals and their families. He is deeply committed to providing support to others, drawing on both his academic training and his personal belief in the resilience of the human spirit.
Beyond his academic pursuits, JW is actively working toward a career as a special agent in the FBI, where he hopes to specialize in counseling. This goal reflects his dedication to combining his skills and interests to serve and support individuals in high-stakes environments. He is passionate about empowering others to overcome obstacles and achieve success, whether in a counseling setting or broader contexts.
In his free time, JW enjoys weightlifting, surfing, and connecting with others through filmmaking and gaming. Above all, his favorite activity is spending time with his beautiful wife, Taylor, whom he married in May 2023. These shared moments, along with his other hobbies, help him maintain balance and provide meaningful connections. JW’s journey is driven by a desire to help others thrive, both professionally and personally, and he is excited to contribute his skills and enthusiasm to his graduate internship experience
