Jerry Jasmin, M.A., Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

In hIS own words ...

I was born in South Florida. Growing up in a "melting pot" like South Florida helped shape my worldview through a multicultural lens. By experiencing different cultures at an early age, I developed a strong understanding of the importance of empathy. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Arizona State University, and most recently I earned my Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Therapy at the University of Central Florida. While pursuing my Master's Degree, I obtained a post-graduate certificate in Sports Counseling at California University of Pennsylvania.

I didn’t always know that I wanted to be a counselor. Personal experiences led me to seek counseling, and after being able to heal through counseling, I was inspired to help others work though their struggles. The wounded healer concept allows me to stay grounded in the work that I do with my clients.

I have professional experience in a variety of settings including community mental healthcare, the college/university setting, and at a community youth shelter. My specialties include: sports counseling, couples counseling, and marriage and family therapy. Specifically, I have a passion for working with athletes and their families to address concerns including: depression, anxiety, life transitions, retirement, identity exploration, and many other psycho-emotional concerns that are unique to the athlete population.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and daughter. I’m a big proponent of traveling, and I enjoy listening to jazz music. I also enjoy watching almost any competitive sport.
