Amy Barclay, M.A., Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

In her own words ...

I love what I do. Being given the opportunity to sit with people through their struggles, sorrows, and joy is truly a gift in my life. I strive to honor the courageous decision to begin the therapeutic journey by creating an open, non-judgmental, compassionate, and safe space. Those who know me would say I am kind, compassionate, and easy to connect with.

Ever since I can remember, I have had a passion for helping people. It was my desire to connect with others that led me to my academic career in psychology at Florida State University and ultimately to my graduate studies in clinical mental health counseling at Rollins College. Since immersing myself in the mental health field, I have gained experience working with clients of all ages in addictions, trauma recovery, and relational & familial dysfunction. I am trained in EMDR, a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of traumatic experiences.

Born and raised in Florida, I am a lover of the beach, my amazing friends & family, and of course, the Florida State Seminoles! I practice self-care by utilizing my free time to soak up the company of loved ones, exercising, trying new recipes in the kitchen, and the occasional retail therapy session of course!

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do." - Brene Brown
